The seed & need

The search for meaning and purpose has been around from the beginning of mankind. Ancient scriptures, temples, rock paintings and religion show that there has always been an interest for the bigger picture. Asking questions like ‘Why are we here?’ ‘Who am I?’ ‘Is there life after death?’ etc are known to many. From the moment a person becomes self aware, in the meaning that when a child notices itself as a separate being, there is the desire to accomplish things in order to be happy. So there is a notion of being not enough, there is always something missing and all we do is to get rid of this desiring feeling. Some experience this stronger than others. But if you are reading this than most likely you have questions and search for ways to be happy. It’s in our nature.

In this search for happiness we all have realized by now that achieving our goals doesn’t come without obstacles. Sometimes that what we want succeeds and sometimes it doesn’t. We try to analyse why, find ways to make it work and try again. This is called the wheel of life. Wanting, striving, getting, fulfillment until it’s gone and we get into this ride again and again. Note that this isn’t bad, it’s our nature of doing. But as we see more and more that during this ride the joy and happiness isn’t present anymore. Many lives are overruled by disappointment, pain, stress, jealousy, burnout, anxiety, fear and the list goes on. All qualities that we can not endure in the long run without hurting ourselves and with that in time also others.

Be the change

Change is life, it’s an inevitable fact that everything continuously changes and transforms. This is normal and neither should we want it to be different. But within all these changes it is important that we stay connected or reconnect to our universal values and ethics. This is essential in order to contribute to sustainable and healthy communities within our own personal capacities.

The need to connect again with that which is our birth right, being happy, has never been more needed than it is today. Our planet, our communities, our body’s and minds are the mirrors of our doing and they are in an unhealthy state. As Deepak Chopra beautifully quotes in one of his talks with Eddie Stern, we are inflamed and need to bring back the balance.

Amazing pioneers, leaders, change makers and role models are doing their best to create a better world. Putting themselves in difficult positions in order to make a stand and create better ways for other beings. The world needs these change makers, but the world also needs that we all start to take better care of ourselves. Once we achieve this change within, automatically things around us will change too.

Happiness, freedom or lasting love is something that can be ‘experienced/attained’ without you changing anything in the world. This is called self inquiry, the journey inwardly, being present and paying attention to this inner Self. Here we deal with ourselves, the person we are, in a way to realize that we are already happy, free and infinite. This journey inwardly is the ultimate way towards self realization and lasting happiness, eventually making the world a better place.

So let’s start with making changes from how little or big they may seem, with the many different tools that are giving. Know that there is not one direct or righteous way. That’s why you see different practices here on this website shared. We are all different and on a different point on our path. I like to share these with you as I’m familiar with them and practice them by heart. But there are many other practices suiting you maybe better.
You don’t have to be rich, young or old or coming from a specific background. You don’t have to tell others what to do, neither do you have to be silent. Get in touch with that which resonates the most and become aware of your own being. Live a life of Dharma (fulfillment of duties), take care of yourself and be kind to others. In time little changes will start to find it’s way.
